Questions & Answers for Snuggle Sack 6" x 8" x 9" Color: Red/Blue Plush

Question

Is the lining made of bushy fleece, like shearling, or normal fleece, like inside a sweatshirt?

I've heard that birds can catch their claws in bushy fleece and injure their legs.

The outside is more of a canvas material, and the inside is a short furry material. My bird has never had a problem!

Hope that helps!

It is a plush fleece, not too long. I have lovebirds and have never had a problem. Mine pull at the fleece and put it in the bottom to add to the comfort, as they sleep on it at night. Mine also poke a hole in one end (where their heads are, I presume to give them another avenue of "escape"). I see this as purely instinct. I just overlook this and replace the sack when it gets too ragged.

It's just like normal fleece from the inside of a sweater.

It's a normal short fleece. My Quakers use theirs all the time and I haven't had a problem with them catching their nails. I also have a pedi-perch located right outside the hut so their nails stay pretty well trimmed.

Thank you for your question. The inside lining of this item is more of a bushy, plush fleece material. As long as the bird's nails are properly trimmed, there should be no risk of injury.

Question

What size for four lovebirds?

I have four new born lovebirds. I am going to put them in the same cage and probably put on snuggle sack in. I used to give their parents the medium one, which is perfect for two lovebirds. Should I go with the same size for four of them, or a size up? Any suggestion is appreciated. Thanks!

I have the medium size also and it is pretty good sized. It is decent for 2 grown birds, and would be great for 4 babies, but those babies grow quickly. I would recommend getting the next size up.

What you can do while they are still small is put some felt scraps in the inside to nest, and as they grow and take up more room clear it out.

The only Con to this is that it will take up a lot of the cage space. The sack is very tall.

Hope this helps!

I'd personally go with the large. You've got 4 growing youngsters and they will all want to compete for space. Expect some arguments as they determine their "pecking order". My two adults use a medium, lying horizontally.
Or, you could get 2 mediums and let them determine who goes where. Good luck. Buy earplugs!

answer 3
Definitely go one size up. You always want to think a lil bigger than usual. You never know if the third love bird will want to go in there as well. I use the medium for my four parakeets. Parakeets are much smaller than lovebirds.. so three fit well inside. The roomier the better

Thank you for your question. It would be our recommendation to provide 1 size larger for the 4 baby lovebirds. You will want to make sure they will have enough room as they grow.

answer 2
I would say the snuggle sack is probably way too small and narrow for American Grey. I would say a large size hut would be a more comfortable choice for large parrots. Hope this helps!

I was wondering the same thing for a 450 gram 3/4 Yellow Naped 1/4 Panama Amazon. She is a medium sized Amazon if not toward the smaller size. I was thinking of getting a Large, but I am not sure it's big enough. In my 15 years as a parrot owner, I can tell you that I have only seen bird huts for bigger parrots one time. I don't think they make them for the bigger birds because of their destructiveness. They don't want the materials to be ingested. It's not good for them, and probably could kill them, depending what they are made of, and of course how much the individual bird ingested.

I will probably get the large, and if I see it's not big enough, I will return it before it even went in her cage. Billie is too important to me to take a chance on putting it in her cage, if I don't feel it's big enough. I hope this helped, and I bet if you did a search on the net for bird hut for African Grey, you might find what you are looking for - even if it's not here.

Take Care, and Good Luck in your quest. I do think our Fids need a place to not be on their feet all the time. And they do tend to have foot problems, because they were not made to stand all of their life... Very little in the wild.

Thanks, Kathy

They would like a nest that clips to the side of the cage made of straw like materials -- rather than a snuggle hut I think

answer 2
Probably. I have found with my finches that any kind of "enclosed nest" I put in the flight cage they loved. At one point I hung silk "tree trimmings" for decoration in the back of the cage and they made that into a nesting area. Just be aware that they may lay eggs in it and it may not be the easiest thing to check on chicks. That would be my only concern.

Thank you for your question. While this will depend on the individual bird, most finches do like to have an enclosed area for hiding or sleeping.
